   A degree or completion of a course.

   first of all you need to do college courses in criminology, psychology, possibly forensic studies. Your salary will depend on who you were with, e.g. correctional services, government, private. You need experince and liscensure before you can call youself a criminolgst.

   For instance someone working at correctional institution may need only bachelors degree in psychology.
